Light Horse Therapeutics is a small molecule drug discovery company based in San Diego, employing tools from chemical and computational biology, in conjunction with precision genome editing methods to identify functional/ ligandable sites on high value oncology protein targets for therapeutic intervention. Light Horse Therapeutics is seeking a talented and motivated scientist to join the Chemoproteomics group and contribute to the discovery of small molecule modulators of high value oncology targets. Reporting to the Associate Director of Chemoproteomics, the candidate will contribute to the design and execution of protocols to screen chemical libraries using mass spectrometry-based chemoproteomics techniques. They will also perform proteomics experiments to characterize small molecule target engagement on proteins as well as help define the protein interaction networks of key oncology targets. The candidate will have the opportunity to employ multiple techniques in chemoproteomics in a dynamic start-up environment.
Job Description:
- Conduct tissue culture of cancer cell lines to support chemoproteomic screening efforts
- Optimize and conduct protocols for the preparation of chemoproteomic screening samples
- Learn and execute mass spectrometry-based techniques to characterize small molecule binding of proteins
- Use proteomics techniques to define protein interaction networks of key oncology targets
- Present results regularly at team meetings
- Perform diligent and timely note-keeping and work process tracking
- Communicate science and strategy effectively in internal meetings and prepare written reports of data and literature analyses
- Position mostly requires benchwork responsibilities
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s to Master’s degree in a biological science with 2-5 years of related experience
- Proficiency in mammalian cell line culture, especially large-scale projects
- Track record of being able to work independently and to create new workflows
- Excellent hands-on technical laboratory skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Attention to details in documenting, executing, and analyzing experiments
- Flexibility and eagerness to tackle new tasks and challenges, and meet aggressive timelines
- Ability to work closely with team members
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with mass spectrometry-based proteomics techniques
- Experience in using 96-well assays to screen small molecule libraries
We offer a competitive total compensation package, as well as working in a supportive team environment.
The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in San Diego, CA is $75,000 to $130,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc.
